Did love or hate have a more powerful effect on Romeo’s death? I think both had a big contribution towards his death and I have multiple reasons for why I think this.
In the text “Romeo and Juliet” written by william shakespeare, love was a big addition to why romeo ended his life. When Romeo first met Juliet, it was as if he saw love at first sight. He didn’t know anything about her or who she was, but he acted as if he’d known her forever. “My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.” (Shakespeare 1.5.92-93) These lines show that in the first few minutes he knew her, he already wanted to kiss her. According to the text, Romeo wanted to be with Juliet so badly that he was willing to change his own name for her, “I take thee at thy word. Call me but love, and I’ll be new baptiz’d. Henceforth I never will be Romeo” (Shakespeare 2.2.52-54)

Either thou or I, or both, must go with him.”(Shakespeare 3.1.82-89) Romeo found out that Juliet’s cousin had killed his friend so in return to take out his rage, he ended up having a fight with Tybalt and killed him. Romeo and Juliet’s families have always had problems with each other, they’ve fought for decades and it only now came to an end once Romeo and Juliet died. These lines from the text supports this, “Two households both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands
