Character Analysis In the beginning of the story the Lottery. Shirley Jackson gave the reader intention that this story is going to be about someone winning the lottery. At least that what I thought it was going to be about, but come to find out it was about someone being a human sacrifice. The character that I took interest in is Tessie Hutchinson. She is the wife of Bill Hutchinson and a mom of four. In the story, the Lottery Tessie was on that I was focusing on what was going to happen to her. Tessie Hutchinson is a housewife, who arrives late, and is an outspoken character.
