In my essay I will be writing about one of Shakespeare iconic plays, Romeo and Juliet, it is a tragic tale of young love and death. I will be analysing the progress of 13 year old, from being young and innocent to a mature young woman. At the start of the play, Juliet is first introduced by her father, Lord Capulet. Shakespeare has done this to remind us that women in the Elizabethan Period didn't have a voice, so Juliet's voice is her father. Juliet is presented to us when her father referees to her as 'a stranger in the world' this suggests that Juliet is innocent and untainted, she doesn't know what the world will bring for her and she hasn't been exposed to the real world.
