In my opinion, I think Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their own deaths. They married too soon and barely knew anything about each other. Romeo and Juliet kept it a secret and only a few people, such as the Nurse and Friar Lawrence, were aware of the secret marriage. Romeo and Juliet dug their own graves in the end. Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their deaths. Line 87-92 states:”O, she knew well, thy love did read by rote that could not spell. But come, young waverer, come go with me. In one respect ill thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (Shakespeare 734). This quote from the drama explains that they decided to get married without their parent’s knowledge and Friar Lawrence marries them in hopes of the feud ending. In lines 35-37 “come, come with me, and we will make short work; for your leaves, you shall not stay alone till Holy Church incorporate two in one” (Shakespeare 744) it states that they are going to Friar Lawrence’s cell …show more content…

In lines 130-133 it states “Romeo, away, be gone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain. Stand not amazed. The prince will doom thee death if thou art taken. Hence, be gone, away!” (Shakespeare 751). Romeo has to go hide so to avoid death, but Romeo is still punished and is banished which is going to separate the newly wedded couple. This has an impact because it will delay their confession to their parents about their marriage. Juliet is also to blame because she is forced into a marriage she doesn’t want because she doesn’t tell Lord Capulet the truth. In lines 19-21 it states “Monday! Ha, ha! Well, Wednesday is too soon. A’ Thursday le it be--- a’ Thursday, tell her, she shall be married to this noble earl.” (Shakespeare 764). Juliet could have just told Lord Capulet about the marriage and even though Lord Capulet may be disappointed, she wouldn’t have had to fake her
