The cause of Romeo and Juliet's death isn't what you think it is. "Romeo and Juliet" is a tragic play written by William Shakespeare. The play follows two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, teens with a background of clashing families. The narrative focuses on the struggles that Romeo and Juliet face being in love with each other and concludes with a devastating end of Romeo and Juliet's death. It seems most plausible to believe that Romeo is most to blame for the death of himself and Juliet. The deaths of Romeo and Juliet could have been avoided if they had never met, which wouldn't have occurred if Romeo didn't appear at the Capulet's ball. This proves that Romeo didn't care about the outcome and still went anyway, making him responsible for the deaths. Romeo marrying Juliet impulsively and it being a secret was a big mistake he made that also led to the deaths of them both. The marriage was a secret to everyone besides the Friar and Nurse due to their house rivalry. Since marrying Paris while already married is a sin, she would've ended up killing herself. Continuing, Romeo and Juliet have said multiple times throughout the play that if they couldn't be together, they would commit suicide. In the poem Juliet states,"...God joined my heart and Romeo's, thou our hands;/ And ere this hand, by thee Romeo is sealed,/ Shall be the label to another deed,/ Or my true heart with treacherous revolt/ Turn to another, this shall slay them both" (Shakespeare 181). This quote shows that Juliet would kill herself if she can't be faithfully married to Romeo, and if it wasn't for Romeo's proposal, she wouldn't feel this
