When you read or even watch Romeo and Juliet, who do you blame for their death? Allow me to take a moment of your time to explain to you how the Capulet parents are the ones to blame. As stated in the prologue, it states “ From ancient grudge break to new mutiny” saying that the two families, Capulets and Montagues, have had “beef” for a various amount of time. One of the reasons the Capulet parents are at fault is because if they didn't hate the Montagues, Romeo and Juliet could have gotten married not in secret along with not having to sneak around with each other. The reasoning for this claim is because in the balcony scene, Juliet states that Romeo is her enemy. She also states that if Romeo is seen, she will be killed. Secondly, if Lord and Lady Capulet wouldn’t have forced Juliet to marry Paris, she wouldn’t have had to fake her death. The evidence behind this is that in Act IV Scene I, Juliet says that she would rather die than be away with Romeo and marry Paris. With this, she took a sleeping potion to fake her death. Juliet's parents, Lord and Lady Capulet, allow her to feel like she must keep her feelings to herself and she can't be open about who she loves.
