When you believe there is no helping your situation, it can get worse. In some way, there is always something comforting in the idea that the situation is simply out of your hands and there is no pressure on the problem to be in your control. With Romeo and Juliet, the idea of fate being put onto them is almost a blessing, the image of knowing that no matter what happens in the end, they will be brought together by their trusted fate despite the family feud that has been lasting centuries. The idea of “Star-crossed lovers” was bound to happen to Romeo and Juliet because that is their fate (or destiny) that they have no other choice but to follow, then leads to how our star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet themselves, are the one at fault for Romeo and Juliet’s tragic death. As stated right at the prologue, we know from the start that the parent feud is major in the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet; “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny. Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean” (Shakespeare prologue lines 3-4), We know from the start the parents' feud with one another will cause Romeo and Juliet to take drastic actions and in the end kill themselves. The feud can be counted as a big reason for the deaths due to the pressure of them forcing Romeo and Juliet to hate one another however Romeo and Juliet knew about all the consequences from the results of disobeying their parents and Romeo knew the result if he avenged his friends death. What Romeo and Juliet did not disobey was their ‘fate’ and their beliefs in the world because they will try anyway to be with their found love, even in death. It is undeniable that the tragedy that was Romeo and Juliet’s tragic end was caused by their own decisions and behaviors. Their rapid fate is eventually caused by their rash choices, thoughtless passion, and poor communication
