“Romeo, Romeo, wheroth thy Romeo” comes from the classic, very recognizable play written by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare initially wrote what seemed to be a love story, but turned into a tragedy in the end. After a heartbreak, Romeo, who is one of the main characters, falls in love with another of the main characters, Juliet. However, they are from two different families who have a family feud and resent each other. This leads to conflict, and chaos, which eventually causes the death of Romeo and Juliet. There are three main factors which contributed to the death of Romeo and Juliet. And although that might be right, Romeo is the most to blame for his own death and Juliet’s because he killed Tyblat and broke a lot of rules with Juliet. Breaking rules and killing Tybalt ultimately led to him being exiled. Before the death of Tybalt, Romeo wasn't really thinking straight because one of his good friends was just killed and he wanted to seek revenge. The prince of Verona explains “I amence a fine that you should all repent for the loss of mine”(3.1.207-208). The prince is basically clarifying that because Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo shall not be executed, but exiled. This was still a very big cost that Romeo had to pay and that consequence almost cost him the love of his life. Instead of thinking about how to solve the problem, he went and killed Tybalt without thinking of the consequences and how it could affect the people around him. Killing Tybalt almost led to Juliet committing suicide the first time, and the second time she actually did kill herself. Romeo didn't think about Juliet when killing Tybalt, which makes him selfish. If Romeo was never punished, Romeo and Juliet could have found a much easier way of escaping, and they could've lived happily ever after.
