Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story of two star-crossed lovers who would rather die than be without each other. The story is riddled with poor character decisions that result in several characters dying, but the story makes you wonder who was really at fault for the tragic ending this story has. Some might say Lord Capulet is at fault for forcing Juliet to marry Paris. Others may say it was The Princes fault for banishing Romeo from Verona. But I am going to tell you why Romeo is the one who is the reason for the unfortunate ending of Romeo and Juliet. I think everyone knows that throughout Romeo and Juliet Romeo is a very emotional person, even in Act 1 Scene 1 he is sad about Rosaline and this sadness doesn’t go away until he meets Juliet at the party but when Romeo is banished in Act 3, you can see how bad it is when he is crying to Friar Laurence he asks to be killed instead of being banished from Juliet. The reason I think Romeo is the one at fault for Romeo and Juliet's tragic ending is because out of the 6 deaths in this story Romeo handles 3. In Act 3 scene 1 When Mercutio is killed by Tybalt, Romeo could have let Tybalt be punished for his actions but he lets his emotions take over and he kills Tybalt himself and is rightfully banished for it but he cries about it saying it's not fair. In Act 5, when Romeo learns Juliet is “dead” his first idea is to go to her grave and go inside the tomb and kill himself, which isn’t a very smart thing to do, seeing how it ends with Juliet also killing herself. When Paris sees Romeo breaking into Juliet's grave he tries to stop him, but Romeo, being too emotional, kills him and when he finally makes it into the tomb, he drinks the poison and kills himself right before Juliet wakes up.
