Company Name and relevant information.
The company that I choose was Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is a retail giant that operates in various different formats all around the world. Within the United States alone some of the retail formats that Wal-Mart operates are: discount stores, supercenters, neighborhood markets and other small store formats. Wal-Mart also has some international presence in areas such as: Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, China, India, Japan, Mexico, the UK and Africa. Wal-Mart is headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas and employed about 2.2 million people as of January 31, 2014.
Why you selected this company for analysis.
I selected this company for analysis because I think it is such an interesting company that seems to prosper despite constantly being sued. For example according to Business Insider.com in 2000, Walmart was sued 4,851 times which is the equivalent of about once every 2 hours. So the fact that Wal-Mart manages to stay on top so well really impresses me and makes me want to continue to watch and see what happens to the company in the future. …show more content…
