Romeo and Juliet’s death is one of the most iconic deaths in history, it shows how much the two cared for eachother and how far they were willing to go to be together for the rest of their lives. Romeo and Juliet is a love story by William Shakespeare, it’s a love story between a young boy Romeo and a young girl Juliet. They come from different families that hate each other and they aren’t supposed to be together because if their parents find out they would forbid them from seeing one another, they fall in love and everything goes downhill from there. I believe that Friar Lawrence and Romeo are responsible for Romeo and Juliets death. Some people say that the family feud and the nurse were responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion when she was only asking for help he could have done something else. For example Act 4 Scene 1 line 73 Friar Lawrence says “Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself” Friar Lawrence is saying do you have the strength to kill yourself. Friar Lawrence brought the sleep potion to Juliet’s head. Also Friar Lawrence should have warned Romeo himself instead of his messenger, or he could have waited at Juliet’s grave for Romeo to arrive. Friar Lawrence did not think this part of the plan through. “ But I will write again to Mantua, and keep her at my cell till Romeo comes.” Act 5 scene 3 line 28-29, Friar Lawrence knew that Romeo was coming and knew when Juliet was going to wake up. He did not have enough preparation for this. Not only these two reasons he also married the two in secret. He knew the feud between the twos parents but he still married them. He doubted the marriage from the start but looked passed that and let them get married because he believed that it would end the hate between the families. “So smile the heavens upon this holy act/ That after hours with sorrow chide us not!” Act 2 Scene 6 Line 1-2, he is saying he hopes that god will approve of this secret union, and not disapprove of them later by giving them sorrows.
