Are there moments in your life that make you wonder, “What if?” Romeo and Juliet is about two star crossed lovers, who were destined to have problems. They’re teenagers from fighting families, but their feuding backgrounds won’t kill their love. The two must hide their love for each other from everyone but themselves. There are many things that happen during the course of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship and marriage, but in the end, who is truly responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? There is not only one person to blame, it’s the actions of everyone in the play. Not only is human error a cause of death, but also the unlucky fate of their relationship played a big role. Romeo and Juliet were from two families who have been fighting their whole lives. The two meeting and falling in love was destined to turn into a tragedy from the beginning, and the couple knew it. Hence, Juliet saying, “Retain that dear perfection which he owns without that title. Romeo, doff thy name” (II. ii. 46-47). Romeo and Juliet fall in love instantly, and decide to get married after a short time. They knew their families wouldn't approve, so they did it in secrecy. The two are only married for a short time before Romeo gets in a brawl and kills Tybalt, which leads him to be banished from Verona. This punishment causes Juliet to be alone in Verona, where her father makes her marry the man he likes instead. Juliet makes up a plan to avoid marrying Paris, but fate intervenes. Juliet drinks a potion to appear dead, meanwhile Friar Laurence sends a letter to Romeo explaining the situation and how he must get Juliet from her burial site. The plan is foolproof until fate keeps Friar John from delivering this crucial message. Instead, Romeo’s servant tells him that Juliet is dead, and he must say his goodbyes in Verona. Romeo sneaks into Verona, and fate steps in once again for the last time. Romeo is saying his goodbyes to his lover, while he plans to impulsively kill himself and die next to Juliet. Eventually, he goes through with his plan, just for Juliet to wake up
