America entering World War II How do you feel about America entering World War II? America entered World War II in 1941 after Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan on December 7th, 1941, on a sunday morning. The attack was such a surprise, the military was unarmed, nor ready for an attack. At the same time the holocaust was going on in Germany. However, America kept themselves out of the war during the holocaust. Some may think Pearl Harbor’s bombing was a great reason for America to enter war, and that it was the right time to do so, because the holocaust was none of the U.S’s business. However, in my opinion, it was the wrong time for America to enter World War II after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, because America was already slowly planning to enter war anyway, and because the holocaust was something that America should have intervened with. …show more content…

World War II lasted for about six years. America assisted other countries by selling weapons, but did not participate in the war till 1941. Before America entered war, President Roosevelt stated, “ This nation will remain a neutral nation, but I cannot ask that every American remain neutral in thought as well. . . . Even a neutral cannot be asked to close his mind or his conscience. . . . I have said not once, but many times, that I have seen war and I hate war. . . . As long as it is my power to prevent, there will be no blackout of peace in the U.S.” By stating so, he was hinting that America will enter war sooner or later. If he was planning to enter war anyways, I believe that America should have entered war sooner to assist the allies, stand up, and recognize all of the horrible things going on during the war, rather than ignoring
