On December 7th, 1941 on the island of Honolulu, Hawaii, which is 2,390 miles from California, is that the Japanese attacked day Pearl Harbor an American naval base called the Pacific fleet. The three reason why it happened, firstly, the Japanese wanted to increase their natural resources like oil, mineral, and steel and at the same time increase their expansion in the Asia and Pacific region. Just because of people higher in power in the government kept it from people lives were lost especially soldiers who risk their lives to serve and protect the country not forgetting civilians. The United States and British government either just let it happen or encourage it to make America go to war with Japan, which they eventually did. For me personally, I think the attack lasted approximately two hours I might be mistaken for how long it lasted for on 0800 hours US fighter planes were all destroyed because of the fighter planes lined in a battlefield formation so it was easy for the Japanese fighter planes to target them. Just days after the attack the United States accelerated their ships production by making four carriers battleships named Enterprise, Yorktown, Hornet and Lexington but lost two of them during the fight against Japan. Before events, Hawaii became United States territory and during this event, it was the Great Depression that was happening which was the year 1941. The main exports of the island were sugar and pineapple since it was easy to grow on the island.
During events period, the labor union activity was suspended for some time and also when the war occurred. Plantation declined and closed down because on the attack that happened till today only a handful of plantations still operate on the island. The after events period, after the attack military members, returned back home to their families. After the war, the people of Hawaii bounded together and rebuilt their economy. The year 1946 tourism became one of the best sources of income on the island because of Pearl Harbor becoming one of the island’s biggest attraction bringing thousands of tourists to Hawaii
