I agree with Galindo that this size congregation is heavily dependent on its pastor for their spiritual needs. Further, the congregation is also dependent on the pastor for the operation of the ministry. I think some of this dependency is because the pastor does not want to relinquish some of his or her responsibilities to lay leadership. This may relate to lack of
In life there are few leaders and many followers. Leaders will heavily influence their followers as well as their opposers. In times of crisis, citizens will look upon their leaders for guidance. They trust that the leader will construct an efficient solution, and that the solution benefits everyone. Truly good leaders will sway their followers towards a noble intention, an intention that will contribute to the common good.
Our leaders have to be encouraging and inspiring to the people. People like Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass are what our leaders should strive to be today. These people always put others before themselves. That is what a great leader should act
“A leader is a dealer in hope.” This famous quote by Napoleon Bonaparte, a leader of the French in the 1800’s, conveys how the right leader brings hope into a hopeless situation. Having someone to follow when taking risks and walking into new scenarios can often reveal the solution to all of your difficulties. Once you have a role model in life that stands up for what they believe in and their followers, you can start moving in the right direction in life. Having a leader in life that represents the solution you are trying to accomplish, will make it easier to complete your goal.
We want to be able to influence people to do God's will, much of which requires a certain level of expertise in order to be effective (witnessing, teaching, discipling, etc.). This means that in the first place, the leader is concerned with the learning process, and how to bring about rapid and permanent learning. A child must learn to walk, talk, and feed herself. Christians must learn to pray, study, love others, admit sin etc. Vision has always been considered an important component in leadership, both in Christian and secular circles.
Leaders are the ones who make sure things get done. Most of the time in this world we live in, there are more followers than there are leaders. This could be the reason our world is so entirely messed up. There is almost nobody doing anything, or taking the initiative, to get the problems some have to deal with everyday, fixed. We need more leaders in this world to get these types of things started and fixed.
Servant leadership is not the only leadership theory that is compatible with the Christian worldview. Others Christian-compatible leadership principles include Transformational Leadership Theory. Northouse (2016) states transformational changes and transforms people. The theory concern with emotions, values, ethics, standards, and goals while assessing followers’ motives, satisfying followers’ needs, and treating members’ as full human beings. Leader-Member Exchange Theory (LMX).
Wherever human beings are accumulated together in large numbers, they need leadership. Even a school needs a principle to mentor and escalate the school’s rank. Armies need generals to lead them to a courageous victory. Civilians need governments, captains of industry and intellectual leaders of thought as well. However, There are characteristics common to most great leaders that can be picked out.
Strong leadership, I believe, is the key to having a strong America. Throughout history, there has been leaders, good and bad, but I believe if the citizens have leaders that take into account their (the citizens) feelings and the wellbeing of the country as a whole, we can have a strong America. America cannot have just any type of leaders, there are some key aspects that the leaders should have in order to lead people (the citizens) efficiently. A leader should listen to others and their ideas; a leader should not boss people around but try to help people reach their potential and add value to them by encouraging them; a leader should also admit when they are wrong and learn from their mistakes so they can reevaluate everything and try to
Servant Leadership during Natural Disasters Servant leadership is a leader who displays ethical and caring behaviors. These leaders seek to enhance the growth of others while improving quality of life. The two main constructs of this leadership are ethical behavior and concern for subordinates. The characteristics embodied in this are stewardship, foresight, conceptualization, persuasion, building community, listening, empathy, awareness, commitment to growth of people and healing.
As Roman Catholics, it is our religious duty to serve others whether those people are a part of our religious community or whether they are from any other type of community. Service is an important aspect of life for not only Catholics but also every single person in the world. By performing various acts of service in our communities, a person’s life can be greatly improved just through a simple act of kindness and love from the person’s heart. Not only can an act of service be beneficial to the person or organization that the volunteer is performing the service for, but it can also be beneficial to the person who is partaking in this act of service for another human being. No matter your age, your background, or your religious affiliation, service is a crucial part of our everyday lives and everyone should get involved in this and do a service out of the good of their hearts.
True leadership requires one to be able to understand, inspire, motivate, and communicate with others. Good
Leaders are made, not born. The Great Man Theory suggests that people inherit qualities and traits that make them better suited for leadership. “To suggest that leaders do not enter the world with extraordinary endowment is to imply that people enter the world with equal abilities, with equal talents.” (Thomas Carlyle 1840) While it is true that there are certain characteristics that leaders are born with that predispose them to become leaders, the influence of these characteristics are often overexaggerated.
Some criminological theories assert that individuals are born criminals while others maintain that individuals are made criminals as a consequence of the environment they are immersed in. In fact, biological theories of crime take on the perspective that crime is innate, genetic, or caused by brain abnormalities. Sociological theories of crime, on the other hand, contend that environmental factors such as poverty and who individuals associate with directly contribute to criminal behaviour. The view that crime is genetic, the nature theory, strongly opposes the view that crime occurs due to the environment individuals are exposed to, the nurture theory. Although biological theories of crime contend that individuals engage in criminality as
Critically compare and evaluate three themes or issues related to the practice of leadership discussed in the readings and set text taking into consideration a Biblical worldview. The three themes that are related to the practice of leadership that I will review are Model the way (leading by example) , Inspire a shared vision (leading continuous change) and Enable others to act (giving others the opportunity to lead and make decisions). In the book the Leadership challenge Kouzes and Posner define "leadership as the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for shared aspirations.
