The crisp air hitting one’s face, the ice crunching under a player's skates, and the roar of cheers from the crowd when they score a goal - these are the joys of being a part of an extracurricular activity. It is important for middle schoolers to participate in extracurricular activities, which are non academic clubs, sports, or classes. Students who join these become more motivated to work well with others and enhance their understanding of different activities they can pursue in life. Obviously, middle schoolers should participate in extracurricular activities because it boosts the most important skills including, the amount of dropouts, social development, and academic performance.

Middle school prepares you for high school and your grades affect the position that you are placed in. explained by the, “The Benefits of Participating in Middle School Extracurricular Activities,” “There is an increasing amount of evidence that shows that extracurricular activities actually enhance academic study,” (Walcertz 1). This is a great thing that has been happening, because the more things kids learn about they get smarter with that knowledge. Explained by the author to fully prove the point, “Extracurricular activities help develop areas of the brain that may not be fully utilized by strictly academic work, as well as developing important skills that can transfer into academic performance, such as creative problem solving and teamwork,” (Walcertz 1). This fully explains that kids that take extracurricular activities during their time in middle school or anywhere, enhances the understanding and knowledge of that certain activity which makes them
