I watch The Walking Dead during my free time because of all the intriguing drama and life lessons it communicates. I also enjoy listening and singing along to hip hop, R&B, and rap music such as Joey Bada$$ and H.E.R. in the shower and throughout the day.

I look forward to the social aspect and meeting brilliant people who have overcome challenges and now study at Stanford. I want to develop a strong support system made up of encouraging friends that will help me succeed in college. I also want to join clubs that interest me.

My daily schedule demands hours of homework, studying, and extracurricular activities. My family also has their own busy schedules, and it is often hard to find time when all of us can get together.

In 10th grade, I chaperoned a 1st grade class to the San Francisco Exploratorium. I was assigned two eager boys that were best friends. I saw how excited young people were to enter the many exhibits and learn about them. Watching over them reminded me about how important and fun education could be. When I think back to the children’s enthusiasm, I realize that not everything can be learned in a classroom setting, and hands-on experiences were necessary to enhance education.

When I got the internship at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, I learned about drug manufacturing through many hands-on activities and tours, similar to exhibits at the Exploratorium. While classes at school has given me plenty of background knowledge about biology and other sciences, I got to use this knowledge in a professional environment while continuing to learn about subjects not covered in
