I had heard stories about how hard it was to find a job after graduating, so I decided I would give myself six months to gain employment. Thankfully I was able to get a job with a small chemical company called LaMotte Chemical. I started off as a Quality Assurance Analyst; I worked with test strips and powder reagents. After about six months an opening came up in the Research and Development department, I applied and got the job.
In my little over two years with LaMotte I developed a wide range of skills from writing and understanding SOP’s to maintaining documentation on testing and products in development. I also learned to Analyze reagent data over time for evidence on how these reagents would perform in production as well as test the validity of new reagent formulas by carefully monitoring their stability over extended periods.

This process of developing new products for domestic as well as international customers creates the need for individuals with the knowledge and skills to oversee the safe and effective delivery of products under regulation. These people will essentially assure the success/quality of the products as well as have an immense impact on the reduction of costs and the company’s profits.
