Barbie was first sold in 1959, and she was meant to be the ideal role model for young girls. Almost every little girl in America had a Barbie doll. Your brain is highly adaptable when you are a young child. This causes Barbie to have a giant impact on little kids impressions on themselves.(LOGOS) Barbie is not a good role model because of her unrealistic body, morals, and personality standards. Barbie is only a doll, but she sets unrealistic, unhealthy, and unlikely body standards for young girls. If Barbie was a real person she would be six feet tall with a 19 inch waist, and she would only weigh a hundred pounds. The average woman is around five feet tall and weighs between 140-170. Barbie has no resemblance to the average woman; this can cause young girls to grow up with mental illnesses such as anorexia, bulimia, and any other eating disorder. Barbie is always doing something different; she goes from car racing to being an astronaut. This is a bad example for kid because certainly all kids can not drive or be an astronaut, and it makes kids feel like they are something less than what they truly are. She is also always wearing the clothes that would be extremely expensive for a real person.
