In a survey conducted of eighth grade students, 100% of the students found that school starts too early in the morning.
In an interview with twelve-year-old Luke Lesser, “My school starts at 7:50 A.M. and I don’t want to wake up. When I go to school, I’m very tired and my brain is not ready to function...at all!” Like Luke, many students across the country find themselves not ready to process information when they first get to school. Researchers say that early school start times may be a contributing factor of children not receiving the proper amount of sleep.
