First, she joined the struggle against Jim Crow because she didn’t like what he was doing. She was influenced by the bus boycott and she raised money to fight against Jim Crow in the deep south. Then, she fought for what was right in her beliefs. This was important to her because when she was three she had to flee from her hometown and she thought no one should be told what to do.
