How Illegal Immigration Benefits America Illegal immigration has been an issue that people still can’t figure out what to do about,while some people think that it’s bad for the country, others think that illegal immigration actually helps America in many different ways. I believe that illegal immigration should be allowed in America for the economy,families, and to prove that immigration does not pose a terrorist threat to America. Some people may believe that illegal immigration does not help in any way the economy,but I have to disagree.

Even our first founding fathers were immigrants. If our ancestors originally came here, why deny the same to today’s people? Legal immigration benefits America by improving the economy, enriching culture, and expanding education in the STEM areas. Immigrants start businesses and create more jobs for Americans, boosting economic growth and maintaining stability.
Immigrants are being rejected, and one of the reasons is because they are supposedly hurting our economy. This economic argument is blatantly false, however. Statistics show that the wages of American workers will increase in the future if the current immigration flow keeps up. Statistically, immigrants are almost twice as likely to start up businesses as native workers, which can provide job opportunities for middle class Americans and even other immigrants.

People migrate to the United States of America for many reasons, whether they are escaping persecution, war, or they just want to live a better life. In 2017, over one million people came to the US. About 72% of Americans think that immigration is a good thing (Felter and Renwick). Immigration can be both beneficial and detrimental for this country because it brings in new culture, increases the economy, but with new people coming in, they bring fear to Americans.

Legal and illegal immigrants force American citizens to compete with illegal immigrants for jobs. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, “There are about 11 million illegal immigrants in the country.” These immigrants get whatever jobs they can, putting less educated American citizens at a higher risk for not getting jobs.
