Sportswriter, Peter Emerick in his article, “Lebron James’ 4 NBA MVPs as It Compares to Michael Jordan & Other 4- Time MVPs”, notes that Lebron is comparable to NBA legends and Hall of Famers. He supports his claim by first listing the MVP season stats for Lebron James. Then he compares the stats Lebron James put up against Hall of Famers like Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lastly, he states that the similarities and differences of Lebron and Jordan and how their pros and cons even out. Emerick’s purpose is to prove that Lebron James is as good as the legends in order to have people realize Lebron’s greatness.
Same Team, Very Different Lives What do Antoine Walker and LeBron James have in common? They are/were both all-star NBA basketball players (Walker left the league in 2008), both played for the Miami Heat, both won NBA championships with the Heat, and both had earnings of over $100 million. On paper, they could have been twins. Yet, that is where the story takes a sad, critical deviation.
Although the stats do not lie, people still believe there is an argument to be made over who the greatest basketball player of all time is because of the number of championships won. Through the age of 31, LeBron James has accomplished more than Michael Jordan did through his 19 year career. Michael Jordan was six and zero in the National Basketball Association finals, but he did not have the productivity like LeBron James did. LeBron has put up some unheard of and unthinkable numbers, while leading a team in 2007 to the National Basketball Association finals that had no other star players on the roster. If LeBron James is not better than Michael Jordan he is just as good because of his career accomplishments, his statistical numbers, as well
He is definitely in the top five best players in the league and he has proved this by putting out incredibly numbers day in and day out. LaMarcus Aldridge is still probably the co-star on his team with Kawhi Leonard, but he is not in his prime anymore, but is still supplying his team with great numbers. Aldridge is 30, three years older than Kevin Durant. Maybe it is because of Gregg Popovich’s coaching, but Aldridge’s average minutes per game has dropped by an average of five minutes. For Durant as of last year is averaging five more minutes per game compared to Aldridge.
Basketball fans come from all walks of life flocking to their television sets as the game flashes on the screen. They ignore real life for those two hours to bask in the glory of their favorite players. LeBron James being the basketball superstar he is knows his audience and uses that to his advantage while writing his article for sports illustrated. LeBron used syntax and diction specific to his fan base to capture attention and create a believable piece of writing. James’ ego shines through his enticing words in the conclusion of his writing.
Steph Curry played a big role in the Championship. According to USA today he became the first player to be voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the finals by unanimous vote. This vote shows that the entire media panel recognized his skill and contribution to the team. Out of many NBA championships, Curry is the only player who has received this honor. This was not the first time he received an award, In fact, according to SkySports.com his other achievements include eight all-star games, 2 NBA All Star awards, one All-Star MVP award , and two NBA Scoring Champion awards (highest average points per game in a season).
Throughout the history of the National Basketball Association, better known as the NBA, there have been numerous dominating scorers that have been in the league. Kevin Durant has established himself as one of these dominating scorers and is an offensive force to be reckoned with. Things like shooting ability, versatility, consistency, and sheer skill are all traits that make Durant such a dominating offensive force and the greatest scorer the NBA has ever seen. Kevin Durant was born on September 29th, 1988 in Washington D.C. He was raised by his single mother, Wanda Durant, and has three siblings, Brianna, Tony, and Rayvonne.
After looking at all of the facts, it is my opinion that Bill Russell is the greater player of the two. Even though Wilt put up absurd numbers, Russell
Leading coming back from a Warriors lead of 3-1 out of a best of seven tournament. They beat the Warriors 4-3 in the end. Now Lebron James moved his talents to the Los Angeles Lakers where he continues to compete in the league at the age of 38. Like Drake sang in “Forever”, “It may not mean nothin' to y'all But understand, nothin' was done for me So I don't plan on stoppin' at all I want this shit forever”
The League and the fans were always fired up every time this two played against one another. Even ESPN made a commercial about Kobe and LeBron being a puppets and boasted their achievements to one another. They are both an elite players that play very different from one another; Kobe is a pure scorer and LeBron is an all around player.
These reasons listed all show how Michael Jordan is the best player of all time and Lebron is not. There are many reasons why Lebron can not be the better than Michael Jordan was. One of the reasons why Lebron can not be said to be better than Jordan is because of how many championships Michael has won compared to Lebron. Michael Jordan played in the NBA for fifteen years, made it to the finals six out of those fifteen years and won every time. While Lebron is in his thirteenth year in the NBA, made it to the finals seven times, and won three out of those seven times.
Kobe Bryant was able to win 5 and Michael Jordan won 6. This puts MJ ahead in the winning category because championships are what you strive for especially since MJ played for less years. Most players would be satisfied with winning one, but winning wasn’t enough for them. Their cutthroat mentality and desire to be the best escalated them to becoming two of the greatest players ever. What’s outstanding is how they both played in different generations and played almost exactly the same and both of them were not able to be stopped,
The Ethos of Egos Michael Jordan, has scored more points (5,987) in the playoffs than any other player in the history of the NBA. There are many facts and statistics that one could site in regard to basketball, but I believe that this one is the most important. The playoffs are when it counts. A team could win every single game in the regular season, but if they slip up even a little in the playoffs, all those regular season wins become obsolete. That is why Michael Jordan being the all-time leading scorer in the playoffs marks him as the best player to ever play the game.
They both play a different position too Curry plays point guard and Michael Jordan plays shooting guard. My last reason on how they’re different is that they both played at different times like Stephen Curry plays right now and Michael Jordan finished playing in
“I don 't know how tall i am or how much i weigh. Because i don 't want anyone to know my identity. I’m like a superhero. Call me basketball man.” Lebron James is a professional basketball player from Akron Ohio.
