I think is was definitely beneficial for your participation in the British law enforcement, as it probably gave you a great internal glimpse on seeing if the laws could have been politically oriented. It was interesting that just prior progressive era government agents began cracking down on political corruption within the police. Roosevelt's committee found that there was widespread corruption within the New York Police Department, and actually fired a large part of their force and rejecting those recommended by politicians.
