Soccer is a team sport that is commonly played throughout the world. It requires precise tactics and communication in order to be successful. Soccer has meant a lot to me ever since I began playing at age eight. Participating in the sport has increased my knowledge and improved skills that I will need to use in everyday life.
Soccer has become an important part of my free time. I have a soccer net in my yard where I try to better myself each opportunity I get. Also, when it comes to soccer I try to attend every practice and game because I make a commitment by signing up. Soccer is a place where I bond with new people every year, making new friends. I let go of all of my problems on the field and the exercise serves as a way for me to destress from the intense amount of schoolwork I receive from all of my AP classes. Finally I find playing soccer fun and it means a lot to me to enjoy the experience along with having a drive to win.

I have learned various formations such as the 4-4-2 and the 4-3-3, and tactics from all of my coaches I have had throughout the years. I have also played various positions such as right back, left and right wing, right mid, forward, and goalkeeper. For the past couple years, playing for Northern United, I have primarily played forward and right wing under a 4-4-2 formation with a diamond defense. Along with increased knowledge of the sport, I have also learned skills I can use in my everyday life. My communication skills have improved due to the communication needed in games and practices. Also I learned how to quickly make good decisions from in-game experiences. There have been various times where I as a forward have to decide whether or not to take a touch before shooting or take a one time shot. I have decided to do both a large number of times and it has costed the team a goal or benefitted our
