Abraham Lincoln was a great leader, so his assassination was wrong. John Wilkes Booth, an actor, shot Abraham Lincoln at Ford Theater on April 14, 1865. The bullet was shot at President Abraham Lincoln, went through his left ear and lodged behind his right eye (memory.loc.gov). It paralyzed Lincoln and while Lincoln was in the hospital, the doctors did all they could. But it was so bad that Lincoln died on April 15, 1865 (memory.loc.gov), in the hospital. John Booth tried to escape, but union soldiers captured and killed him. Abraham Lincoln's assassination was unjust because he helped free slaves, he was caring, and a great leader; although people believed that he was partially the cause of the Civil War.
President Lincoln helped free slaves and this one reason his assassination was unjust. Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy (whitehouse.gov). If Lincoln was such a bad person, why would he free the slaves. Also, if the people did not like him, why would they re- elect him as president. The south hated the Republicans so much because they threatened their way of life. A terrible leader would be someone that would be impeached from office. But since he was not, he had to be a good leader for the people. He led the North to victory during the Civil War (biography.yourdictionary.com). He then won the presidential election without the support of a single southern states (civilwar.org). Also, one important way Lincoln's effects contemporary society is that we look back on his presidency as a role model for future generations(rogerjnorton.com). This sounds like people think he was great, but there are always going to be people criticizing him out there that think he should have
