Why Julius Caesar’s Assination Was Wrong In Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Caesar is assassinated by a group of conspirators in the Roman Senate. I believe Caesar was wrongfully killed because he had only helped Rome’s rise to power and had not yet committed any crimes against the Roman people. Also, Caesar would not have died if Cassius hadn’t written those false letters to Brutus (2.1, 48-50). Julius Caesar was a powerful military commander and leader of Rome who brought the country more wealth and power. His striking ambition and growing power worried some Senators, who feared he would become an overpowering Roman king. Although Caesar claimed to be a dictator, he never abused his power.
