Throughout the story, Winston commits various “thoughtcrimes”, which are punishable by death, against “Big Brother” in order to escape its tyranny. We see the things he commits these crimes with, specifically with his diary and Julia, to be what he cherishes most. At the start of the book, Winston’s first “thoughtcrime” was writing in his diary. However, Winston Smith is not the hero that Oceania needed because even though he wrote anti-government messages in his journal, he wrote nothing of significance, he betrayed his lover when given the chance to prove his strength, to comply with the government, and was broken and taken over by Big Brother. Merely purchasing a journal to write in is illegal in Oceania. Winston knew this but he journaled nonetheless, using it for self-expression, which is denied under party rule.
I have learned so much from my high school american history course so far and I’m genuinely shocked by how interesting the information we are learning is. When I generally think about history it bores me but when I started learning about history this year everything changed. I think it’s very important to know history because without those historic events we quite possibly wouldn’t be where we are today. So that’s what I will be trying to do.

Winston Churchill had a tremendous role in the allies victory of World war ll. Winston became prime minister (Great Britain's president) on may 9 1940 in the middle of Germany taking over almost all of Europe. The first reason that Winston Churchill had a huge role in World War ll is the way he lead Britain during the time of war. Another role that Winston played on the allies winning the war was his war strategy for defeating the axis powers of Germany, Italy and Japan. The last role that I want to talk about with Winston Churchill is his tense relationship with the U.S.S.R. and the spread of communism.

Franklin was the only child of James Roosevelt and Sara Ann Delano Roosevelt. Their family lived at Springwood. While growing up, Franklin Roosevelt was constantly being reminded about his importance and self-worth.
In order to have an outlet to release some of these feelings Winston takes a huge risk and starts writing his diary in order to release some of his feelings, his true feelings. Franklin Roosevelt oversaw an expansion of the Federal Government and he also, helped formulate the United Nations.(“Franklin Roosevelt”). I think Franklin Roosevelt be honored with a national holiday because he did a lot of good thing for United States. He also won four times in electing presidents.(“Franklin Roosevelt”).

This quote means when you come to a hard situation push through it you can make it through any bad situation as long as you hang on. Franklin D. Roosevelt was an important part of history because without the contribution of Roosevelt the depression would have lasted a lot longer than it did and took more of a drastic toll on everyone. On January 30,1882 in Hyde Park,NY Sarah Roosevelt and James Roosevelt Gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know there son would be a huge part of American history.

In remembrance of his noble attributes and deeds, statues of ‘Sir Winston’ stand all over Britain, and even four corners of the world. Countless schools bear his name, as do parks, towns, squares, highways, streets, tanks, submarines, ships, mountain ranges, trust funds and even cigars.

In the literary success previously mentioned, ‘1984’ Orwell write this dystopian novel published in 1949 about a future Society of Perpetual War Mass government surveillance and public manipulation with Winston Smith starring as the main character in the novel Winston's character serves as a symbol for Orwell's personal life and struggles. In Orwell's message ‘why I write’ he tells us about his political standpoint when writing and how he incorporates them into his work. Orwell's says “every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written directly or indirectly
