Drama Paper- Wit Who can really tell who is a good or bad person, and who’s business is it really to really determine “good” or “bad”? In this play a character named Vivian is diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. Throughout this play she tells about the struggles and the complex time she went through to try to take on this cancer. Everything becomes natural after a time she says her name, date of birth, doctor without being asked when getting tests ruan, I know from personal experience that, at a point, it just does become a routine and something you are just used to. Kelekian. In fact, this character works under Kelekian. His name is Dr. Posner. This doctor worked with Vivian’s primary doctor and was also one of Bearing’s older students. He could be described as being young and brilliant. He said he took Vivian Bearing’s class just because it would look good. Her class was very hard. Vivian sees herself in Jason. She sees the desire to understand complex things. However, Dr. Jason Posner is not usually a favorite character from this play. He needed to work on his people skills. He was very impersonal. Sometimes is seemed like he would forget that his patients were people. Posner related a lot to Kelekian in the fact that patients with cancer were experiments to him. “Susie: She’s DNR! Jason: She’s Research! (Edson). Posner wanted to keep his patients alive to be praised by Kelekian. When Dr. Posner is being compared to the definition of ’good’, it does not match up. The definition states having excellent morals is good. Many readers would probably agree that Dr. Jason Posner did not have the best morals. Instead of worrying and caring for his patients with cancer, he is testing them for his benefit. He is more worried about his career then the people …show more content…

She was the primary nurse for Vivian Bearing. She was not just a nurse to Vivian however; she was also a friend by the end of the play. They form a relationship that is made obvious to the readers. Susie was the one that checked in on Bearing often and turned out to be the most friendly people that was on the staff. Instead of seeing Vivian as an experiment like the doctors that studied her case, Susie saw her as someone that was fighting for their life. She was also the one that was upfront with her about her future. She made sure that Vivian knew that she had choices. As Wit goes on, Vivian starts to accept Susie more and more. She really started to enjoy having Susie care for her. Susie made Bearing feel more comfortable. She was able to open up more to her nurse than anyone else. She would talk to her about how she was really feeling and why she was scared and confused. Susie was the only person in the whole entire play that Vivian Bearing was close to. At the end of the play when Bearing’s heart stops, Susie proves her loyalty. Susie made sure that Vivian got what she wanted and made sure she was DNR. Susie changed throughout the play. She went from being a follower to a leader with the help of Dr. Vivian Bearing. Most people would say that Susie was a ‘good’ character. She really put her patient in front of herself and cared for her. She did her best to make Vivian comfortable while on her way to death. Susie made a big
