Years of the 1960 decade were of social reforms, demonstration and protest. African American people were demonstrating for civil rights, women were demonstrating for equal rights and there was a protest against Vietnam war. In a way 1960s years marked the beginnings of several happenings on political and social front. As mentioned in “The Seventies” article on CNN “So much of what began in the 1960s only fully developed in the 1970s. The seeds may have been planted but they didn't truly begin to bear fruit until the subsequent decade.”
In 1970s, United States gone through several political changes. After Democratic administration in the 1960s, Richard Nixon who was a Republican got elected as a President. Economy wise, United States is doing much better compare to 1970s but we during the course of year, many jobs moved oversees in search of cheap labor market. We are still hearing incidents of racial biasing in the media based on color, race and religion. In 1970, President Nixon was involved in the Watergate scandal and now if we compare we are still not clear whether 2016 Presidential elections was free of any external interferences or not. The positive changes we have right now compare to 1970s is the people awareness and reach due to the spread of the social media. People, community are changing and move closer due to the rise of internet. As American people brought political changes in seventies by voting out President Ford then President Carter, today also people are aware of what is going on and especially young people are ready to use voting rights to show their anger and frustration with the government if they don’t see a change that they
