Background- August is a 11-year old boy, and he was born with facial deformity. He hasn’t gone to school because he thought it would not be good. He thought he would be bullied and called names. Some of his friends were even scared of him at first because of his looks, and that is what August did not want. 3. Motivation- August wants to go to school and not get bullied. He wants this because he always gets funny looks, and always gets called funny names. He hates getting funny looks and mean names every day. He really wants to not get bullied or get looked at funny at school. He is just like me and you just with a different face. 4. Conflict- Towards the end of the year, the fifth graders are going on a field trip. August is super pumped about it because he gets to spend time with his best friends Jack and Summer. August is also super happy because Julian will not me attending the field trip. Him and his friend Jack go and hang out in the woods, and come along a group of seventh graders who were up to no good. They start making fun of August and calling him freak. They even asked him what alien planet he came from. The teasing gets worse, and they try to beat up August and Jack. 6. Plot- The first main point of the story is when August is heading to school, and he mentions about his disorder called Craniofacial Anomaly. That is when your facial bones developed differently. The next main point is when August goes to school and people are already making weird comments, staring at him, and won’t sit by him. Throgh out the year he find out his friends are not really his friends because they have been told to be nice to him by the princible.
