World War II was the most destructive conflict in the history of world. It was found to be one of the worst war ever. Unlike the Soviet Union, the fighting in World War II itself never reached mainland. World War II had an effect on so much people that this really never happened before. It also affected wealthy professionals and poor sharecroppers regardless. The efforts of people in the United States, were just as Critical to the Allied victory as were the sacrifices made by the soldiers. World War II affected American life on the home front because it was very deadly and most of the people were dying. Total War happened a lot especially in World War I and World War II.Total War is a war in which an army can destroy abilities to fight. Boy's that could not fight because of their age they had too work on scrap metal, tank armor,weapon part’s, and ammunition. There was over 16 million men and women in uniforms as well as troops. The US had trouble keeping up with the needs of all those troops. Americans only received 5 gallons of gasoline per week. This happened because men were either drafted in the army or they joined the navy, or the marines. American women had no choice but to go to work in heavy industry. American women took to the factories, the shipyards; maintaining the nation’s infrastructure. They were also making munitions, building airplane’s, tanks, weapons and building ships. When women went in to work in the factories to do hard jobs,”Rosie the Riveter” and “Wendy the Welder” became symbolic women. This was because women were now doing manly jobs. 300,000 women would go to work in airplane factories alone.
