Social media is harmful for students because many kids are addicted to it and lots of predators are out there. When kids are able to freely be on social media they get into deep trouble. Which means teenage social media may have a bad influence to kids who weren’t social media butterflies. Kids spend lots of time using social media and texting at home and at school, instead of studying. It has a anti effect on children of all ages and even adults. It needs a restriction and stronger security to be able to feel more comfortable to parents to allow their kids to use it. Time is wasted all around by kids who feel the need to fit in, in their generation, which is why it is harmful.

Kids get themselves into lots when lets with no guidance about what to do and what not to do on social media (SocialInfo.com). In April 2016, after years of relentless bullying in school and on social media, 17-year-old Felix Alexander took his own life (Glabs.com). Kids at young ages want to do anything they can to fit in, and be “cool”. Does not work out when they get in a huge load of trouble, for something they wanted to prove to someone. In addition, predators target both boys and girls of all ages and use the anonymity of the Internet to get away with so many things (Socialnetworking.lovetoknow.org). Furthermore, social media generally doesn’t require much to make an acc. and be whomever they want. They can get any images online and use that as their profile, and no one would ever know. As a result, they use the Internet to their advantage since they can be whomever, they want on any site or app. Social media is becoming better about this, yet they still lack so many things to keep them away. Predators are not a massive problem for social media, but it definitely is still a highly ranked one. Every social media butterfly may not fall into traps or bad things online, but others who are shy, or want to make new friends without talking face to face might. It will always have an anti effect on kids never generally helping them improve. In addition, the more time they spend the more time they waste instead of going further in life, social media is like a ripped chapter from a book, there will be no way of going ahead and understand what they are doing. Children often take their lives away from social media causes, which would have never happened, if they read this and had known what was coming
