Autism is a genetic disorder that is a part of a developmental disorder group (ASD). Autism includes impaired social interactions, communication issues, limited physical ability, and repetitive actions and behaviors. Autism has different levels of severity. Autism is a more severe developmental disorder. This genetic disorder does not target a certain race, ethnicity, or gender. Although it is four times more common in boys than in girls (NHGRI, 2012), autism is found all around the world. Autism cannot be spread because it is a disease of the brain. Some of the first major signs are the child speaking in an abnormal tone, as if everything they say sounds like they are asking a question, if they are grammatically incorrect, (referring to themselves in the third person) or cannot seem to be able to verbally communicate their wants and needs (Dr. Ted Hutman, 2016).
