The SAT is to measure a student’s capabilities in the core areas of reading, writing and mathematics. The SAT scores range from 200 to 800 for each of the sections for the total potential score of 2400. The majority of the questions are multiple choice. There is also an essay in the writing section. The test is made up of 10 sections. The first session is a 35-minute essay. Sections 2 through 7 are 25 minutes’ sections. Section 8 and 9 are 20 minutes’ sections and section 10 is a 10-minute multiple choice writing section. The SAT data is used by organizations and government agencies in determining who will receive scholarship grants and other awards. The reliability of the SAT depends on the student. The validity of the test isn’t totally true because the score can’t always predict what students are going to make for their first year of college. From a personal experience, the test being so long I start to not fully understand the questions anymore. I remember when I took my SAT my senior year of school. The test was held at a college classroom nearby. The room wasn’t that big, it could fit about 20 people. There was only about 11 of us taking the test. There were two administrators, one was reading the instructions and the other handed out the materials we needed to take the test. I remember before we even took the test, the administrator collected our phones. Right before we started the exam, we had to write in cursive a passage that was in the booklet of the exam. I loved math so during the math section I didn’t get bored. The other sections, as time went by, I started to get bored and wasn’t totally in to the exam. The fact the exam was time; it was an anxiety I remember having. I would feel rush, so I really didn’t fully understand the question to answer to my best ability.
