Organizational Background The YMCA (Y) is a nationwide nonprofit organization that has a mission to provide services that enhance youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Y changes their mission depending on the location and the challenges the community is facing. The Y focuses on supporting youth in transitioning to adulthood by providing after-school programs, sports programs, homework clubs, mentoring programs. It also focuses on healthy living for all through prevention workshops and gyms. The Y also firmly understands that social responsibility is necessary and provides multiple volunteer opportunities to keep the community together. (www.ymca.net, 2018). Hutchinson (2016) explains that Ideal Type of Bureaucracy stems from having a clear vision of hierarchy, set rules, and being task focused. I connected the Ideal Type of Bureaucracy with the Y because employees are typically assigned to their job title based on their skill and education. Also, there is a clear chain of command, and if something changes at the executive level, then the levels below must follow. The Y promotes diversity not just for their clients but their staff as well and perceives it as beneficial. I am unsure about the diversity percentage of the organization, but it will be a valuable question to ask the informant. The Y receives its funding through donors, grants from the government, program fees, membership fees, and the Annual Giving Campaign run by the Y. The Y also utilizes interns and volunteers to assist with their programs. I will ask the critical informant if she is aware of any other type of funding the Y may receive. (http://www.ymcasv.org).

That could result in strain to employees and impact the way they provide services. “To the extent that pay-level satisfaction reflections distributive justice, the higher the pay level satisfaction the more satisfied employees will be with their job, the more committed they will be, and the less inclined they are to leave the organization” (Schreurs, Huenter, Schumacher, Emmerik, & Notelaers, 2013, p. 401). I would like to analyze if the Y is willing to provide line workers with more than minimum wage and full-time jobs to decrease the turnover rate. The Y does an excellent job of allowing their employees to voice their opinion and make a change but it can improve on pay-level
