How can communication between health workers and patients be enhanced?

Existence of communication is the reason that all human beings can share different information with each other, making the act of communicating essential and vital for people on earth. However, communication is often more specific and needs to be an objective that health professionals have to reach and revised with more importance. Professionals and patients commonly prefer to talk about examinations and diagnosis as if they were numbers and codes; consequently, communication is losing its true essence (Dyche, 2007). Communication is an ability of a professional to help people tackle their problems, create a relationship in a short time, and try to adjust to what cannot be changed. In another words, communication means to know how to see, understand, behave, and establish a connection with people. In this essay, health professionals are people who have direct contact with patients and their needs. Doctors and nurses are the most predominant in this case because, in most cases, they are responsible for interviewing patients, diagnosing pathologies, organizing treatments, and administering medications. They also have to give patients all the information that they need to know. Patients refers to people who are under the care of health workers, in or outside of hospitals, and people that continue to see these professionals for routine consultations, treatments, advice, and medication.
