1970’s Inventions and Technology
In just 2017, a medical breakthrough was made. Ohio State University researchers found that humans could create regenerating body parts by inserting a tiny chip into a damaged organ. Is that not amazing? But the real question is, how did we get to this point? How is it possible for technology and invention to be so advanced when computers were not even created 100 years ago? To answer this question we have to travel in time to an era where it all started, the 1970’s. The 70’s was a decade of important inventions and lifesaving technologies that the world still deems important, even in the 21st century.
Most technologies of the 70’s were used to help communication expand throughout the world. Some breakthroughs …show more content…

To go along with unprecedented technologies of the 1970’s, the Home VCR was created as well as the Home Music Centre and the bar code. In 1970, the Home VCR was released to consumers. The VCR was durable and brought the reels of film out of the theatre (“Inventions Of the 1970s Timeline”). On March 30th, 1970 the bar code was created. The optical machine read data by analyzing bar widths and transporting you to the site where it can be found (“Inventions Of the 1970s Timeline”). Three years later, on April 20th, 1973 another entertainment system was released, the Home Music Centre. It was a record player , cassette tape recorder, and a radio combined (“Inventions and Technology of the 1970s - Flashback to the 70s”). These innovations gave Americans easier access to places such as the theatre and the internet, creating less hassle to perform recreational …show more content…

Because we created inventions that allowed for less mobility, Americans also composed creative pastimes. Therefore, gadgets and gizmos such as: the hacky sack, king size cigarettes, and the first video game were invented. On March 30th, 1972, John Stalberger and Mike Marshall created a classic American sport, the hacky sack. It was a activity that involved kicking a fist sized ball with a partner (“Inventions Of the 1970s Timeline”). Other innovators watched it capture the hearts of Americans and released their items to hoping for the same outcome. As cigarettes gained publicity in the market, companies contracted the prices, and expanded the size giving us “cigarettes fit for a king” (“Inventions and Technology of the 1970s - Flashback to the 70s”). Speaking of pastimes, Atari™ released their first video game Pong in late 1972. It was a game made to simulate tennis using two squares and a rectangular ball in middle (“Inventions Of the 1970s Timeline”). Although we don’t consider these inventions extremely significant, they were super impactful in the
