2.2 Explain the difference between leadership and management.
The main difference between managers and leaders is the way the two types inspire people and teams to meet their goals.
Management involves

Leadership involves
The management focuses on getting results through strategizing and financial planning to solve complex problems. Change may not be the objective.
Builds a vision for the future. Works on the specific ways and changes to achieve the goals. Changes are commonly made to achieve their goals
Plans can be efficiently and precisely implemented through developing human systems. Restructuring will take place so that plans can take place.

Leaders should inspire and motivate the team to achieve their task. Leadership is about leading by example. Leadership aims to get the best out of each individual so that the whole team can improve. Leadership helps to build team spirit and create a conducive environment for collaboration and teamwork. In the end, the aim is to achieve the goals set by the management.
The functions/roles of a leader:
• Vision – focusing on the long term in order to achieve set goals
• Motivation – desire to change the status-quo
• Inspiration – inspiring others through leading by example and injecting life
• Persuasion – To redirect other people so that they voluntarily go to the correct way
• Team work – fostering collaboration of effort, commitment and teamwork
• Building relationships – ensuring that relationships are cared for so that the team has a good balance
• Listening – able to listen carefully to find the root problems
• Counseling – to give energy to each individual so that the team is lively
• Coaching – allowing space for individuals to grow in the team
• Teaching – to instill the right expectations, goals and ensure good
