Personal Statement

Leadership is the ability to inspire and guide others toward a shared vision or goal. It is about creating a culture of excellence where people will be motivated to achieve their full potential, and where the collective efforts of the team result in greater success than any individual could achieve alone. Leadership involves setting a positive example, providing guidance, and building relationships based on mutual trust and respect.

During my career in the Navy, I have had the privilege of working with some exceptional leaders who have greatly influenced my leadership style. The leader who had a significant impact on me was my commanding officer during my first deployment. He had a clear vision for our mission, was an excellent communicator,

To achieve this, I plan to provide my sailors with opportunities for professional development and encourage them to take ownership of their careers. I will support their goals and aspirations by providing guidance and resources, and by advocating for them when appropriate. By investing in their growth, I hope to create a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals who will be equipped to tackle any challenge that comes our way. Additionally, I understand that effective leadership requires a balance between task-oriented and people-oriented behavior. While it is important to set clear goals and standards for our work, it is equally important to build strong relationships with my sailors. I plan to achieve this by taking the time to get to know each member of my team and by creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
