Introduction
Leadership is about inspiration and influencing your people to make them want to follow you through any experience because they know you have their best interests, even in the worst situations. “Great leadership equals love. Selflessness without ego.” (Vargas, 2019) The idea is that showing and empowering Love while demonstrating selflessness can create an environment that can propel a team to accomplish any task. These are listed in the order in which I ranked them due to how they drive me and the thoughts that are created thinking of them. When it comes to love/affection, I think of my family and how it isn't just those blood-related to you but also those who are a part of your inner circle, and no matter what, they are there for you. These thoughts drive me to what to facilitate that family mentality in my unit and the people in my charge. Happiness is a mindset I strive for and need in order to help others accomplish their goals. If I can't truly be mentally happy, then I can't help others, so I must work on my mental health to be happy. Loyalty can overcome any obstacle that a team can run into. If you have established loyalty, the ends, and depths, your people will go for you, and each other is endless. Friendship ties into all the above and becomes the outcome of the collective of the first values. Finally, autonomy is something we all strive for deep down inside. I have learned that leadership is not just about giving orders and making decisions but also about building relationships, empowering others, and creating a culture of trust, accountability, and Love. Moving forward, I will continue to develop my leadership skills and strive to be an exemplary leader who inspires and motivates others to achieve their full potential. I will apply the five practices of exemplary leadership (model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart) to create a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration in my organization.
