On the 24th February 2010 an inquiry was published, The Francis Report (2013), outlines the lack of basic care which resulted in many unnecessary and preventable deaths, the main reason was due to overlooking the problems across the sector.
Health care professionals have been delivering high-quality care through the 6 C’s, a positive influence on a patients' health and well-being is through the Four Principals of Person Centred Care approach (Bostwick et al., 2015). Beneficence was shown through compassion, taking positive steps and being active in regards to my colleagues' welfare (Beauchamp and Childress, 2009). Familiarising ethical principles will assist in better decision making and safeguarding the best interest of the patient/family is important otherwise problems may arise when in a similar situation (Chivima, 2014). Subsequently, a personal development plan will aid me to deliver better care in the practice with the help of reflection.
My value is to be independent and to be capable of delivery care sufficiently through developing my competence level, aiding me to be more confident within the practice, raising my awareness and delivering appropriate care, (Storey et al., 2016). Attending training will help me achieve a higher level of competence, this will make the patient feel safer and trust my skills and knowledge.
One of my beliefs is being able to provide a quality of life to patients this is done by raising my care level which will help me understand the patients' needs, this will make the patients feel comfortable to express their emotions, (Fitzsimons, 2012).
