There are several reasons why the accounting process is a common area of business mismanagement. Legally, in previous years it has had a lot to do with how light the punishment used to be regarding accounting fraud. In my opinion, many likely, thought that even if they did get caught they would either be able to cooperate their way out or serve a very light sentence. Today, even though laws have changed due to the attention given to accounting fraud via the media, there is still not enough accountability to completely deter everyone away from acting unethically in this way. There needs to be more auditing in order to keep businesses honest and accountants honest. If there businesses knew that they were going to be audited on a more regular basis they would make stricter financial policies to ensure that illegal and unethical practices were not taking place. We may be told not to judge a person, we are not judging those who have committed a crime against our company. Someone else is doing the judging and ultimately, it will still be God who makes the final judgment for that person. Our job is to forgive them for their poor decision making, but that doesn’t mean that we have to allow them to keep their job. We can pray for them as they go on with their life, whether that is in jail or as they search for another job, depending on the severity of the misconduct. A biblical worldview does not replace policies within a workplace, it only speaks to the values and helps to lead a team to know and do what is ethical. Having a biblical worldview, I believe, should only increase your potential for financial success, definitely not, deter or prevent it from
