A Briefing Paper on The Intel Trinity By Micheal S. Malone More than 1 billion computers are in use today and have become an indispensable part of our world. Most of them have one thing in common, ‘intel inside’. The Intel Corporation is one of the most innovative, successful, powerful and recognizable brands in the world. Pioneers in the semiconductor industry, in the 45 years since its formation, Intel has helped build some of the worlds most advanced and powerful computers for personal use. The ‘Wintel’
collaboration led to the monopoly of the PC market by Intel and Microsoft. This collaboration dethroned Apple as the dominant power and a staggering 15 million Personal Computers were sold with that combination. Another notable collaboration was the 8086-chip license to AMD by Intel. Years later, the license was renewed for 80286 that was upward compatible giving an opportunity for AMD to clone (copy the Intel microcode) the chip. This was a start to a series of legal battles between AMD and Intel that would run for decades. 3.3 Marketing Strategies: Intel is among the world’s most valuable brands. Marketing strategies by Intel not only influenced the market’s perception of the wide usage of the products and but also had an impact on the behavior of customer towards the product. The company’s innovative marketing campaigns which included “Intel Delivers,” Red X” and “Intel Inside,” are the most celebrated campaigns in the marketing world. Many also consider the “Operations Crush”, a solution based marketing model developed by Intel a miracle since Intel emerged from the losing side and turned it around only to gain a huge competitive edge, changing the course of marketing and branding forever.
