By the book A History of the Modern Middle East, Islamic started in the seventh century in the Arabian city of Mecca. Islam is one of the fastest growing religion in the world. In the Middle east, they have over 300 million Muslim population. Islam was exposed to the Prophet Muhammad in the years 610 CE to 632 CE. Prophet Muhammad were visited by the angel Gabriel and was told to preach the new religion on Islam. He was about 40 years old at the time. Islam believes that Muhammad is the true messenger of God due to the message that God spoke to him through angel Gabriel. The world of God was transmitted to the Qur’an as it was given to Prophet Muhammad. The Qur’an was completed in 651, exact 19 years after the death of Muhammad. The Arabian Peninsula of the 7th Century were not organized or well structured. They did not have a common law that put people together. Cleveland’s book stated that only tribes were the largest units of social and political organization to which individual’s loyalties were given. After the death of Muhammad’s daughter husband Ali and one of the early converts of Islam, the Islam Ummah took another stage to worldwide. At this time, Islamic replaced not totally by partially Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and paganism and became the dominant religion in the Middle East. The Abbasid Empire created the wealth by using the trade and industry not only within the Abbasid but within all Islamic countries. Their business was involved trades in China, India, Africa and the entire Mediterranean region.
