Meanwhile, Demetrius has obtained the permission to marry Hermia from her father. Hermia did not want to marry Demetrius because she was in love with Lysander. So, Lysander and Hermia snuck off into the woods to be married in secret. Hermia had told her friend Helena of the plan. Helena was in love with Demetrius and told him of their plan. On the night when Lysander and Hermia snuck off into the woods, Demetrius and Helena followed them. There were many others in the woods that night including fairies and their leader Oberon. The fairies created a potion that, when poured in the eyes of someone asleep, made them fall in love with the first thing they see upon waking up. Demetrius and Helena were sawed by others and they felt sorry for Helena because she was in love with Demetrius. So, they designed a plan to make the two fall in love. But, instead of pouring the potion in Demetrius's eyes, they poured it into Lysander’s eyes and he fell in love with Helena. Demetrius also got the potion in his eyes and fell in love with Helena also. The fairies realized they had to fix this mistake. So, they undid the spell on Lysander and he fell back in love with Hermia. Demetrius remained in love with Helena. The ending all worked out good for everyone involved (Magill
