Love is different for each person. Love expresses itself in many different ways and it is never the same for someone else. In the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, there are several different views on love. Whether it is true, fake, mature or young, it is all love. I will be touching on a few of the main relationships in A Midsummer Night’s Dream including; Lysander and Hermia, Helena and Demetrius and Theseus and Hippolyta. These three different connections all stand out to me in this play. All three relationships express love in different ways because love is different for every person.
In the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lysander and Hermia share a love that is true. You can tell how true it is because even when times get tough, neither Hermia nor Lysander give up. When Lysander is cast upon by a love potion, Hermia refuses to give up on him and they’re love. Even though it seems as if Lysander doesn’t love Hermia anymore, she still continues to maintain her love for him. After Lysander claims he loves Helena, Hermia says “What love could press Lysander from my side?” (3.2.185). Hermia is saying, it seemed as if not even the greatest of forces could pull Lysander from her side. That shows how strong

I find this in particularly, very problematic. They seem to always have an issue or interference standing in their way of peace. But, as stated by Lysander, “The course of true love never did run smooth.” (1.1.134-35). The first problem is Demetrius not loving Helena back, next it is Lysander interfering by also loving Helena, and finally Helena not believing that Demetrius truly loves her. Though it seems that casting a love potion on Demetrius to love Helena may make everyone’s lives easier, would their love really be true? I think it would not be true love like Hermia and Lysander’s, but if it makes everyone happy in the end, then I guess that’s what really
