I’m Melanie Lint from Johnstown, Pennsylvania and I’m writing to you because I am interested in playing softball at Virginia Tech. Not only am I interested in your excellent softball team, I am also interested in your advanced Pre-Veterinary program. While viewing your college page and softball stats, I’ve noticed that one of your pitchers will have graduated by my graduating year, and the other will be a senior. You built the program up so much since you got hired in 1995 and I would love to be part of it.
I took all the sciences I could, eventually majoring in Biochemistry in college to understand the workings of the body. I always thought I wanted to be a pathologist. I was aware of pathology assistants but was unaware of what their job entailed. In my junior year of undergrad, I was fortunate enough to find out that my college worked with a teaching hospital, Montefiore Medical Center. Through them, I was able to obtain an internship in the Surgical
My academic goals after I graduated from UC Irvine is to achieve a higher education beyond a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences. I have set going to dental school as a primary goal after graduating. My goal is to eventually obtain a D.D.S (Doctor of Dentist Surgery) degree. Working towards a specialty is an interest that I am very curious in pursuing; however, as of now becoming a general dentist is my main goal. What factor(s) made you interested in studying in the Biological/Biomedical School:
I want to enroll in Pre-AP English because I think it could help me in several of ways. This can help attain my goals because it helps me receive a higher gpa. I plan to contribute to Maricopa High School community by joining student council, if I join student council I would be involved in more things and can help at any events, I am committed to go above and beyond and I am self-motivated to do anything necessary. Skills that I have that are essential for advanced placement include someone who will try their best every day, someone who will go above and beyond in completing their assignments and are respectful and responsible.
I am applying for honors biology for many reasons. I believe that it would help to boost my academic experience, would help me out overall, and I love hands on projects. In high school I am really trying to challenge myself with my academics and social skills, so I thought that applying for biology would be a perfect fit. For example, I believe that honors biology would really help me work on my time management skills and since the class has a lot more expectations it would also help me hold myself more accountable. I also think that joining an honors science class in the first year will help me throughout the rest of the time I spend at CHS, in both future science classes and even others.
My journey began during my junior year of high school when I participated in the Hopkins Authentic Research Program in Science. It provided me with access to a state-of-the-art laboratory and exposure to advanced research skills and scientific concepts. This experience solidified my identity as a scientist and my love for problem-solving tasks and hands-on research. I carried this passion with me to college, where I sought out research experience with Hamilton College Biology Professor, Abigail Myers. In her lab, I worked on a neurodegeneration project in Miro-1 knockout mice, honing my skills in mouse handling and footprint
Eagerness to learn, attention to details, and willingness to put in required effort and time, all qualities I wish to continue to practice as a student in AP English 12. As a student of organization and willingness to participate in classroom discussions and interactions, I believe those attributes of me as a student set me up for success in this class. My enthusiasm in learning has been a leading factor in my decision to apply for this rigorous course my senior year. While there are other options available this is the course best suited for me due to my attention to details and readiness to dedicate time and effort into this class. As an AP English student I am mainly interested in continuing to practice and develop reading and writing skills
I have a deep fascination and respect for the human body and have enjoyed learning about its intricate functions and components throughout my education thus far. My interest in the human body, detail-oriented
Barnard’s foundation curriculum ensures that I obtain all the biology knowledge I will need for my career while also ensuring that I am still getting a strong liberal arts education and
Through my curiosity in my current Honors Biology course, I want to be able to learn more about this fascinating topic outside of the classroom. There’s so much to science and I simply do not know where to go. While I love learning about biology, there’s only so much to do. This year, we have only been covering the general background on ecological and molecular biology. I feel as if there is still so much more to learn.
Furthermore, the concepts and ideas in biology can be difficult for students to grasp particularly at the higher education level as many times students did not get the necessary preparation for college sciences while they were in secondary school. To traverse this hill and get students engaged, it has been my personal goal to make sure that I make biology as interesting and informative as I can and maintain the level of enthusiasm I have for the science so that my passion can branch out to other students.
My love of knowledge and eagerness to join the medical field are why the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is for me. Along with receiving a quality education, I know by attending the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, I will have many quality opportunities to learn outside of the classroom or lecture hall and establish solid lifetime relationships. Growing up in Ann Arbor, I have always been inspired and interested by all the work the University of Michigan does, specifically around the fields of science. The University of Michigan’s science programs will help me to build a solid base for a career in the medical field, whether it be a degree in biology or chemistry. Another thing that interests me about the chemistry and biology courses at this college are the research opportunities granted to undergraduate students.
In this world, there are several things that motivate me to want to “do” something, get me excited, and make me smile. One of the things that motivates me to do such things is wanting to make a change in the world through science. Whether it’s trying to find medicine or new inventions that improve the physical, mental, health and lifestyle of millions of people, I’m willing to do it with the help of science. One SECME activity that relates to the science field that I find to be fun and interesting is the study of animals, how they adapt to their environments, where they originated from, how their body works, what dangers do they face, and even seeing what animals are capable of. Because I love animals, this is a very interesting activity and
To Graduate Committee Admission of Biochemistry and Cell Biology Program of Rice University: My inclination to study biology comes to me since I was little boy. I always found amazing the capabilities of living beings and mechanisms that allow life, development and evolution of organisms. Particularly interesting were my first approaches to microbiology in early classes in high school. My fascination by biological sciences was such that it led me to win the National Biology Contest held in Cuba, my native country in 2004. This was one of my first academic achievements in my short career and allowed me to directly enter the best pre-university school in my country.
PERSONAL STATEMENT (NURFATIN BT MOHD SHAH) I want to further my study in this course because it is thrilling and rapidly- moving subject area, that is highly pertinent to the problem facing by society today. As far as I concern, cardiovascular disease is one of the popular cause of death. I am keen to learn more and involve in the latest advances in cardiovascular research. Over the years of studying, my interest in this area has increased.
