George Washington was a great leader. He had shown his leadership skills in many ways throughout his life, but mainly when he stepped into the role of president. In my opinion, George Washington was the best president the United States of America has ever had because he was the first president. He stepped into a completely new role in a new government system, set precedents for the role, and led our country diplomatically. The Emancipation Proclamation is a letter that Abraham Lincoln wrote on January 1, 1863. The letter says that every single slave in the United States should be led free.
