Accepting Change In Michael Blumenthal's Fish Cheeks

In the poem, “Suburbia,” by, Michael Blumenthal, the author explains in his poem that change is needed. “Lloyd hits the ball, and Lorraine fetches it,” this line is important as it is repeated multiple times throughout the poem in order to show that the same routine is done most everyday, with only the slightest change, and no one feels the need to change this routine. In the short story, “Fish Cheeks,” by, Amy Tan, a Chinese-American girl feels the need to change herself, by eating different foods and dress differently in order to be liked or more understood by americans. After me being the seventh child to be born, I thought I had being the little royalty sealed in the bag for my family. However that's not what happened. When I was five, my little sister was born. I remember losing all my power of being the youngest when I was seven and eight, and I thought that was the worst thing to ever happen. Fortunately it wasn’t. I ended up accepting my little sister into the family, no matter what the circumstances. My story relates to, “Half Brother,” because when Ben first meets his new chimpanzee brother, he does not accept him. You can see these accomplishments in acton by reading my past work and seeing how my reading skills and writing skills improved with all of these goals. Last unit and units before this, he best word to describe my reading elaborations and writing skills in those elaborations is weak. This unit I am able to write better writing pieces without even looking back at previous wording. I feel as my growth went up so much, due to the fact that we have been doing many more long writing pieces such as essays and posters that increase my creativity and basic writing
